FLORENCE ONE OF MY FAVOURITE CITIES

HOTEL IN PALAZZO FLORENCE HOTEL IN PALAZZO FLORENCE

Florence is one of those cities that you can back to again and again and again. It was the center of art and culture of the world sponsored by the great Lorenzo de Medici, one of the great patrons of the arts of the world who has left a legacy of beautiful buildings in Florence and breathtaking art, paid for by his court.

And this love of art is still happening in Florence! I was in Florence in May and saw a great exhibition of Picasso, Miro and Dali. It was inspirational. I love seeing the work of those three spellbinding men, who lived such interesting and amazing lives mixing with people of all the arts, writers, photographers, musicians, all in together inspiring each other.

Have a look at this room in this Florentine palace - once the home of a noble family and now made into a hotel in which everything is still preserved as it was. Nothing much has changed - the Palazzo still has the feel of a noble home and the ambience of all its former glory.

Imagine painting a room like this and your legacy is there for a couple of hundred years. Now this is great patronage of artists. Art was and is still is appreciated in Florence.

The artist who painted this room indeed created in the words of Virginia Woolf "A Room of his Own!

Have just enjoyed reading your blog from start to finish....great work....your passion for Italy is so obvious and Gemma, I know what a great job you do with your tours. Also know how long blogging takes to do....just back from Colombia where my travel partner had a blog which I was to help write etc....In the end I felt like I may have been missing out on new experiences while writing and waiting for photos etc. Luv Denise
