ACCOMMODATION TAX IN ROME STARTED 1st JANUARY 2011
The City Council of Rome approved the introduction of an accommodation tax in Rome. The tax goes towards better organising the city's urban services. It was implemented from the 1st January 2011 and is payable by all people staying in accommodation in Rome at the conclusion of each stay, whether the booking was made before or after the 1st January.
The tax also applies to those who have booked and paid for their accommodation through a travel agent or tour operator.
The taxes are as follows:
B & B € 2 per person per night up to 10 days
Holiday homes € 2 per person per night max 10 days
Hotels 1, 2, 3-star € 2 per person per night up to 10 days
4.5 stars Hotels € 3 per person per night up to 10 days
