ACCOMMODATION in MONFERRATO WINE REGION

The Monferrato Italian wine area is located in the north-western corner of Italy between the Alps and the Riviera. It is one of the historical territories of Piedmont. The borders are not clearly defined, mostly contained in the Alessandria and Asti provinces, being considered cultural rather than physical. It is a one hour drive from Milan and Torino (Turin).

Monferrato is a place where history, art, architecture, traditions and crafts, all live side by side in an extraordinary landscape of gentle, rolling hills and picturesque valleys with flooded rice-fields and the River Po running between them. This land bewitches in every season, but in autumn its beauty is spectacular. It is a territory that could well be compared to the sea because of the vast expanse of soft hills that flow like a “sea of hills”.

The Vineyards are at one with the landscape, with infinite shades of greens, yellows and oranges. They are all cultivated with Barbera or Grignolino grapes. In the Monferrato area, a new generation of winemakers and farmers are fiercely proud of their products and consider themselves bearers of tradition, at the same time without betraying their roots.

IN MONFERRATO WINE REGION WE RECOMMEND....palio_di_asti.jpg

Monferatto is a wonderful place to drive around and just explore. In the center of this area lies Casale Monferrato, which has some of the most beautiful Piemontese Baroque buildings.

All around there are small villages and churches filled with ancient charm and built with local stone and many grand estates where the precious Barolo wine is made.

Stay in a 17th century convent, recently transformed into a stunning resort, in enchanting castles or in a simple but genuine farmhouse where is a real pleasure is to taste the seasonal cooking with home grown organic ingredients.
